Working In Tete

These tents are where our crew lived while they are working on this project
Work was already started on the pool

beginning of a set of stairs
All of this steel had to be cut, welded and painted then installed
removal of the original steel beams
Dirt had to be added and compacted -all by hand
Painting booth was built with bamboo mats as a roof
After concrete is added this became our prep area for pouring the benches
we dug a small pool for curing the benches after they were poured
Soaking the benches in water slowed down the drying process makes for a harder concrete
Progress on baptismal pool
Lots of dirt was added

This is our Construction Team from left to right:row 1 Esther, Jeanne;
row 2: Thomson, Gift, Thrienta
row 3: David, Mike, Martin, Joao, Samsao
The overseer of the project is Martin

When we got to the site this is how things looked. The South Africa Branch engineered a new structure  for the site. We removed these beams but kept the columns

The first few weeks of our project we had to precut, clean and paint the steel before our welding brother arrived.

Our welding brother Jeremiah and wife Holly finally arrived about the end of June. There are a total of 16 large beams 35 ft each that were bolted together at the peak.

Special scaffolding had to be built and moved to place each beam on the columns.  It took about 15 brothers to carry the beams by hand up the scaffolding  into place. SAFETY FIRST even in Africa.

An exciting day! This is the first of 8 beams

Our master welder Jeremiah assisted by Gift welded each beam to the top of the columns

Making good progress things are starting to take shape.
